What happens if I don´t see any aurora?

If you don’t see the Northern Lights on your tour, please send us an email at hello@icelandicroamers.is. We’ll do our best to provide you with another tour on the first available night, free of charge.

*Please note that witnessing the Northern Lights isn’t guaranteed. We aim to run these tours only when the weather and solar activity are favorable. Even if the forecast is very positive, the lights may be faint or may not appear at all. This is nature, and we can’t know for sure, even with all weather and solar activity forecasts.

As this tour is fully dependent on the weather, we will provide a final decision no later than 2 hours before the pick-up time regarding whether it’s worth trying or if it’s better to cancel or reschedule.

Note: This excursion is also available as a Private Tour, offering a more intimate experience and transportation in a comfortable premium SUV, VANs or Off-roaders. Private Tours allow us to better adjust to your needs and travel style. Hence, to show you even more of Iceland’s beauty! 🙂

FAQ

What's the group size? Is there a limit of participants?

There’s a minimum number of 5 participants required for a group tour to take place. The maximum number of participants per group is 10.

How many pictures will I get and how will they be delivered?

In case of the Northern Lights tour, The final amount of photos from your adventure depends entirely on weather conditions. Please be aware that sometimes aurora shows up only for very short time – we’ll take one photo for every individual at first, then we can play more with additional photos if aurora is still visible. In favorable conditions you can expect up to 10 professional, fully edited photos.

Within 7 business days you’ll get a link to the dedicated folder on our Google Drive, where your trip pictures will be uploaded.

Can I pick the photos myself?

Your guide-photographer will select end edit the best shots from the day for your photo package. Trust us, we’ve been doing it for years! Please be aware that we do not share RAW pictures and there’s no option to pick and buy more shots – if you wish for a bigger package, please book the Private Photo Tours.

What if I don't see Aurora Borealis during our Northern Lights tour?

While we cannot guarantee a sighting of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), we do everything possible to maximize your chances. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and visibility depends on factors such as weather conditions, cloud cover, and solar activity.

Our tours are designed to give you the best opportunity to see them, and we monitor weather and aurora forecasts closely. If the conditions aren’t ideal, we may adjust the timing of the tour or reschedule it for another night, giving you the final decision no later than 2h before the pick-up time. In the event of no sightings during your tour, we offer a free rebooking on another night. Unfortunately we can’t offer refunds for missing the Lights during the tour.

In case we cancel your group tour due to lack of the minimum of 5 participants needed or unfavourable weather conditions, you’ll be eligible for a full refund. If your prefer we can also offer you rebooking for another date instead – in this case, feel free to go with us as many times as you wish until you finaly see the Lights!

For the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights, we recommend booking between September and April, which are the peak months for aurora activity

What language(s) does the guide speak?

All our guides speak English. We can also arrange Spanish, French, Portuguese and Polish-speaking guides upon your request, depending on their availability.

What should I wear?

Icelandic weather is unpredictable. Bring warm and waterproof clothes, gloves & hat. Hiking boots are strongly recommended.

What is your cancellation policy?

More than 48 hours’ notice: Full refund minus 10% transaction and administration fee
Less than 48 hours’ notice: No refund
